You know, I think the thing about watching the Mariners get... what's the verb for having a perfect game thrown against you? Anyway, the worst part about it was the hollowness. I think it was the insurance run in the top of the ninth. As soon as the White Sox scored that fourth run, it was over, and it just didn't matter at that point. Just one of 90+ losses for the M's, and Phil Humber is on sporcle now. That's it. Does this make me a bad fan?

Johan is so fucking cool. Reading this I was reminded of his "I'm a man!" declaration and so googled it to read up on it. As awesome as that moment was, in typical LOLMets fashion the article I read also notes that "JJ Putz watched the game from his couch following surgery..." and that "Emil Brown had cleared waivers & accepted his assignment to Buffalo. Brown, who was waived when Ryan Church was activated from the disabled list..."

I lived in Boston when they finally won it all in 2004 after so many years. Granted I was there as an outsider, having been born and raised in New York, and a Mets fan, but it seemed to me that the fan base made an almost overnight transition from sad sack band of lovable losers into championship or bust entitlement.

Given my experience with that I want the Cubs to win a championship in my lifetime solely because I want to see what happens to the fan base afterward.

My friend is convinced he injured Jeff Weaver - from heckling - when he was with the Dodgers. If memory served, it's the not-really-that-famous-unless-you're-a-White-Sox-fan game when they wore the horrendous halfway to St. Patrick's day green uni's and Pierzynski hit a walk-off oppo.
